BRAZILIAN PTO RESTARTS COUNTING OF DEADLINES

On Tuesday, May 26, 2020, the Brazilian PTO announced that it would stop extending deadlines due to Rio de Janeiro’s stay-at-home period related to COVID-19.

This means that for any deadline which had already begun to run when the PTO first extended deadlines beginning March 16, 2020, the deadline – which had been suspended – began to run again on June 1, 2020, for the rest of the period remaining, while deadlines triggered by publications which took place while deadlines were extended – between March 16, 2020, and May 31, 2020 – will start to run on June 1, 2020.
